Job Title: At Risk Intervention Specialist – Assistant Elementary Principal

Job Description: 

•   Serves as building leader in the absence of the principal

• Provides additional academic/emotional intervention supports to identified 3-5 grade students

• Collaborates with staff regarding student achievement/growth data

• Provide an integrated student achievement and positive behavior support programs

• Participate in student assistance meeting process

• Maintain records of student progress, interventions used, programs both individualized/differentiated and the successful instructions used

• Coordinate special meetings between students, parents and teachers

• Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance

• Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student discipline

• Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students

• Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives

• Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct

• Assumes responsibility of all 504 plans and their implementation with parents, teachers and support staff

• Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students

• Assists in the evaluation of teachers and support staff

• Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non-professional personnel attached to the school

• Assumes responsibility for the planning and implementation of the NWEA testing and other building assessments

• Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in       

  school life and activities

• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time

 

Hours:         8 hours per day

                   215 days per year   

     

Start Date: January 2019

 

Rate of Pay: Competitive salary based on education and experience. Excellent fringe benefits package available.

 

Qualifications:

•     Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate   

•     Master’s Degree in Administration or related field preferred

•     Five years of successful classroom teaching experience required

•     Demonstrated evidence of outstanding leadership abilities

•    Ability to supervise and lead students in grades 3-5

•    Ability to implement a disciplinary program that demands high standards for student behavior, overall safety, respect and productivity

•    Knowledge of special education practices, instruction, students and IDEA

•   Outstanding skills in listening along with written and oral communication

•   Ability to be an outstanding role model for students grades 3-5

•   Knowledge and understanding of outstanding instructional practices and strategies

•   Extensive knowledge in student intervention (math, reading, behavior)

•   Must possess knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation of data to drive appropriate instructional          and behavioral interventions

•   Demonstrated proficiency with educational technology

•   High energy, well-organized, creative thinker and problem solver
