Position Details: 

RESPONSIBLE: Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE).

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Administrative/Non-Bargaining.
  2. One (1) Full-time position, 220 day position.
  3. Competitive compensation package based on years of experience and qualifications, with benefits.
  4. Salary:  $55,000-$65,000.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  

This position will provide leadership and oversight of related CTE and non-CTE work-based learning experiences and activities for local schools districts within Saginaw County.

Education and or Experience:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate at Secondary Level with CTE Authorization preferred.
  • Master’s Degree preferred in business/marketing, human resources or CTE from an accredited college or university
  • Experience working with business and industry preferred (i.e. human resources, marketing, business, customer service).
  • Leadership ability to provide training and work-site locations for paid-internships and mentorships for CTE and non-CTE students.
  • Previous experience working with high school population preferred.
  • Ability to utilize various computer programs and software.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Demonstrates confidential and sound professional judgment

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist local districts with the development of work-based learning opportunities to include but not limited to field trips, paid and unpaid internships, and mentorships, for students.
  • Development of business and industry on-site classroom experiences for students.
  • Assist local districts with the development and implementation of Employability Skills training, to include but not limited to student talent portfolios and mock interviews.
  • Provide technical assistance to local districts on the state follow up survey for program completers.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of state and federal regulations that pertain to work based learning services both CTE and non-CTE, including pupil accounting rules and youth employment laws.
  • Maintain active membership in professional organizations related to work based learning, including MCPA.
  • Provide leadership and support to local districts with the implementation and coordination of MI Bright Future.
  • Pre-screen candidates for part-time/full-time employment for students and graduates.
  • Provide assistance to local districts with connecting students to apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Assist Great Lakes Bay Early College with setting up/monitoring a work-based learning program.
  • Provide professional development to LEAs.
  • Provide technical assistance to LEAs in the maintenance/updating of student/employer files.
  • Assist LEAs with coordination of work-based learning related field trips.
  • Promote mentor appreciation activities.
  • Work as part of a team to coordinate CTE events/activities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certification at Secondary Level with CTE Authorization preferred.

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to work-based learning programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously walking and frequently required to stand; occasionally the employee will sit.

The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and other staff.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard.
