Principal – E.E. Knight Elementary School (Grades 3-5)

 

Overview:

 

Ovid-Elsie Area Schools is looking for an experienced, transformational leader for E.E. Knight Elementary School in Elsie, Michigan.  We are looking for a candidate with a strong educational background who has a focus on high student achievement and will work with staff to establish and maintain an effective learning environment.

 

It is preferred that the candidate has successful teaching experience and is knowledgeable in the areas of curriculum, special education and technology.  Administrative experienced is preferred, but not required.

 

The candidate must possess strong organizational skills, communication skills, public relations, and interpersonal skills.  The candidate must have the ability and knowledge to evaluate instructional programming and teacher effectiveness.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Hold a current Michigan Teaching Certificate;
  • Hold (or the ability to obtain) a current Michigan Administrator Certificate;
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration;
  • Three to Five years (or more) of exemplary teaching experience;
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding of Special Education;
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong understanding of the importance of educational technology and demonstrated use;
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programming and teaching effectiveness;
  • Ability to coordinate campus functions; and,
  • Keen sense of discipline and working with staff and families to ensure behavioral expectations.

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Lead development of plans with School Building Leadership Team for continued growth and improvement;
  • Direction and accountability for instructional programs;
  • Assessment of student performance and use of performance data to drive continuous improvement;
  • Promotion and supervision of student activities;
  • Working knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS);
  • Supporting students and families experiencing trauma;
  • Experience in working with a diverse student body; and,
  • Proven success in raising student achievement.

 

Salary and Benefits:               Commensurate with experience as it applies to the Ovid-Elsie Area Schools Administrative Salary Formula.

 

Start Date:                              Negotiable; preferably, prior to the end of the 2018-19 school year.
