Purpose Statement:

The Associate Principal is responsible for Pathways students and staff; as well as to a specific grade within Jackson High School, as determined by the current rotation. In the absence of the building principal, the associate principal shall be responsible for those duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Design and implement a vision for the Pathways Program that supports the programs fundamental goal of: [Providing the soft skills necessary to be successful in the workforce or college with an independent career track, exposure, and experience for each child to build the bridge between the learning taking place in the classroom and the workforce.]

Directs and supervises the building instructional program (including virtual/online learning), special education, vocational education and pilot programs.

Promote the Pathways Program through a variety of approved media.

Oversees and collaborates with school staff for the enrollment, registration and orientation of the Pathways Program students; including an EDP for each student of the program.

Master schedule development and assignment of classes, teachers and rooms.

Coordinate a Testing team.

Oversee and authenticate the preparation of all district records for compliance with city, state, federal and/or annual reporting requirements as well as completion of building reports.

Maintain the School Improvement Plan and related activities necessary to execute the plan.

Receive and processes student discipline referrals.

Maintain accurate student accounting records.

Development and annual revision of Parent/Student and Faculty Handbooks.

Collaborate with staff for the classification and promotion of all students.

Determines the certification and fulfillment of graduation requirements by all Jackson Pathways students.

Hallway supervision between classes – before/after school.

Coordinates all school-related student services such as clubs.

Attendance and participation in after-school/evening activities.

Responsible for the coordination of support services, including counseling.

Acts as a referral agent and liaison person for all outside agencies providing support services to students.

Budget maintenance; including overseeing the purchase of all instructional materials and resources.

Evaluates and disciplines professional and support staff personnel.

Responsible for the professional development/training of all professional and support staff.

Meets and works cooperatively with community agencies/organizations to identify additional educational, vocational and training resources for students based on interests.

Applies policies of the Board of Education as they relate to the operation of the Alternative Education programs.

Interprets policies of the Board of Education as they relate to all student services.

Act as the Jackson Public Schools representative for the Jackson County Career Readiness Task Force (now the Talent Consortium).

All other duties as assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities(continued):

Jackson High School

Responsible for activities relative to specific grade.

Responsible for maintaining the student information system to include testing, post-high school placement, and basic student publication data (when responsible for seniors).

Cafeteria student management.

Responsible for the supervising student conduct including attendance, discipline, student transfers, and Policy Youth Services responsibilities.

Responsible for the coordination of support services, including counseling.

Acts as a referral agent and liaison person for all outside agencies providing support services to students.

Evaluates and disciplines staff per the delegation by the Principal for Instruction or Superintendent.

Participate in IEPs.

All other duties as assigned.
