Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor – Related Services, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Educational Systems Consultant – Assistive Technology will provide leadership and coordination in the use of core curriculum standards and evidence-based instructional/assistive technology practices for teachers.

The position will focus on coaching and capacity building with teachers and support staff to provide technology integration within core curriculum, assistive technology applications to address student needs, and collaborative consultation with staff, parents, agency personnel, medical providers and administrators.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (If Applicable):

Desired

  • Possess or qualify for Full Approval as a Teacher Consultant pursuant to the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education R 340.1790 Teacher consultants for students with disabilities
  • Michigan Teacher Certification with a Special Education endorsement
  • Assistive Technology certification

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Possession of a master’s degree in assistive technology, special education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, or instructional technology.
  • Two (2) years or more experience in assistive technology or instructional technology working with youth in an educational or clinical setting.

Desired

  • One (1) year or more experience facilitating and/or chairing meetings, planning and conducting professional development, and/or providing consultative professional services.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Sitting – possibly for long periods of time
  • Standing/Walking/Bending/Stooping – some
  • Lifting – involves minor lifting
  • Ability to sit on the floor and get up and down from the floor
  • Position may require work evenings, weekends, and summer months.
  • Requires that the employee provide his or her own transportation for job-related travel.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at the workplace.
