POSITION:               Elementary Principal       
                                 
LOCATION:              Parkview Elementary, Grades 1-3
 
JOB SUMMARY:      Charlotte Public Schools is looking for an experienced, knowledge-driven, student-centered, enthusiastic educational leader for the Parkview Elementary School.  We are looking for a candidate with a strong educational background who has a focus on high student achievement and will establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school. Preference will be given to candidates who have successful teaching experience and administrative experience.  The successful candidate will be able to provide leadership for student learning and success and serve as the instructional leader to accomplish building and district missions.  Knowledge of elementary level curriculum and instructional practices is preferred.  The position of Parkview Elementary Principal is an excellent opportunity for innovative, hardworking professionals, who are dedicated to a high quality educational experience.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS:          
    Required

  • Hold current Michigan Administrator Certification and Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration. - OR - Applicants will also be considered if they possess a Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration AND are currently enrolled in an approved program for administrator certification to be completed within 3 years.
  • Three to five years teaching experience and a minimum of three to five years exemplary administrative experience.
  • A collaborative leadership style which includes strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Skill and ability to interact and communicate effectively with children and adults from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

    Preferred

  • A strong background in curriculum and instruction is preferred. 
  • Experience with Marzano instructional practices and evaluation systems preferred.

  • Lead development of plans with School Building Leadership Team for continued growth based on multiple measures of student performance 
  • Direction and accountability for instructional programs
  • Assessment of student performance and use of performance data to drive continuous improvement
  • Promotion and supervision of student activities
  • Working knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Supporting students and families experiencing trauma

    Leadership for Staff Performance and Success

  • Supervision of staff following the Marzano Educator Evaluation model
  • Professional development connected to intended outcomes of building School Improvement Plan
  • Knowledge of curricular programs WONDERS, GOMath 2015!,
  • Knowledge of instructional approaches such as Explicit Instruction, WOW, Art and Science of Teaching (ASOT), Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s), Data Teams, 3rd Grade Reading Law, Visible Learning (John Hattie), Learning Walks, Linking Walks, Teachers Leading Teachers, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Next Generation Science Exemplar (NGSX) training, Teaching with Poverty in Mind, FOCUS School
  • Understanding the role of instructional technologies
  • Experience in working with a diverse student body
  • Working knowledge of Special Education and ELL requirements
  • Proven success in raising student achievement
  • Experience in attracting, retaining, and recruiting students and their families
