Position Details: 



The Ishpeming School District announces a vacancy for the position of Elementary Principal/Transportation Director.  A minimum of a Masters Degree with an emphasis on administration, curriculum, supervision, and related fields is required.  A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required.  Administrative and teaching experience at the elementary level is desired.

As Transportation Director, the successful candidate would be responsible for the routing of all regular school bus runs, scheduling special trips, supervision of drivers and mechanical repair, and maintain and promote good community relations.  Candidate would work with Chief Mechanic during inspections made by the Michigan State Police Inspector.  Candidate is responsible for arranging any and all trainings required to ensure certifications are in compliance.

Candidates must demonstrate the highest levels of honesty and integrity.

Candidates must possess the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, parents, and staff.  Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communications skills.  Candidates must possess the ability to provide leadership in instruction, curriculum and must possess the ability to provide leadership in effective student discipline.  Candidates must possess the ability to effectively monitor, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff.  Candidates must have a strong knowledge of special education practices and procedures.  Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop the daily class schedule.  Candidates must possess the ability to maintain expenditures within the allocated budget.

Candidates must have a commitment to be visible and to be involved with the community.  Candidates must possess the ability to maintain positive relations with parents, parent groups, volunteers, and outside agencies.

Candidates must possess the ability to direct maintenance and custodial activities.

The Board of Education may elect to employ any individual with such alternate qualifications that the Board may find to be acceptable and appropriate.
