Salary: In Accordance with the Negotiated Paraprofessional Contract

Reports To: Director Special Education

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of High School diploma.
  • Previous experience with curriculum – high school.
  • Previous experience with special education students.
  • Understanding of disabilities such as learning disabled, language impairment, Autism, Otherwise Health Impaired, etc.
  • Ability to navigate a classroom and school.
  • Good gross and fine motor skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to understand math, reading, writing at high school level.

SUPERVISES:   NA

JOB SUPERVISOR:   Works under the direct supervision of the High School Special  Education Department Head and Building Principal.

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists with academic tutoring and instruction.
  2. Supports and works with students in small group setting to meet needs as addressed in student IEP’s.
  3. Supports and works with individuals or small groups of students on activities, assessments and other requirements provided by general education classroom.
  4. Assist students who may be having difficulty in understanding or in keeping up with general ed. curriculum.
  5. Attend district training opportunities for Special Education aides where appropriate.
  6. Possesses a positive, flexible, and professional demeanor with good organizational skills.
  7. Enjoy working with students in providing personal and instructional assistance with a caring attitude.
  8. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students and staff. 

Method: 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Per negotiated contract.

EVALUATION:  Completed by Building Principal or as assigned.
