TITLE:  Summer School Literacy Coach                    

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Michigan teaching certificate
  • Must have experience at the elementary school level and experience in a variety of leadership
roles.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide quality leadership and management.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a conceptual understanding of human growth and development, learning theories and teaching methodologies.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all components of a balanced literacy classroom.
  • Demonstrates skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community.
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize and execute a quality coaching model to support teacher learning.

REPORTS TO:        Assistant Superintendent

JOB GOAL:            

Responsible for developing a coaching model that supports adult learning of all components of a balanced literacy classroom.  This person will present research-based best literacy practices as well as model classroom lessons.  In addition, this role includes all matters related to Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) process as well as gathering and reviewing data to present to classroom teachers to make instructional design decisions to support the learners in the summer program. 


 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops relationships, interventions, and support to the student population.
  2. Supports the strategic plan of the District and Individualized Reading Plans (IRPs)
  3. Works with teachers in resolving student academic issues.
  4. Counsels with summer school students and their parents with respect to at-home reading plan and expectations.
  5. Develops reports to review literacy data using AIMSWEB and DRA.
  6. Reviews progress monitoring data weekly and supports classroom teacher with related instructional decisions.
  7. Performs all other duties as requested by the Assistant Superintendent

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Weeks of July 15th - August 8th

Literacy Coach will coach/provide in-service for a maximum of 12 hours per week for up to four weeks.

Facilitates MANDATORY teacher training on Wednesday, July 10th. (3 hours)

SALARY: $30.00 per hour
