TITLE:          Elementary Literacy Summer School Teacher - (Incoming Grades 2-3)                                   

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have an active teacher certificate.
  • Proven experience in teaching Elementary School.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Must have successful classroom experience with digital learning programs.
  • Must have successful classroom experience with literacy instruction and assessment.
  • Must have experience using data to guide student’s learning individual paths.

REPORTS TO:         Assistant Superintendent 

SUPERVISES:          All Students

JOB GOAL: To support lower elementary students with reading and writing skills needed to be successfully transition into their next grade.

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain a balanced literacy classroom.
  • Evaluates student and class progress on a regular basis using DRA2, aimsweb plus, MLPP, and other appropriate literacy assessments.*
  • Maintains required Learning Management System.*
  • Plans and prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.*
  • Leads face-to-face student class sessions.*
  • Participates in literacy coaching
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved, and the physical limitations of the location provided.*
  • Attends weekly team data meetings, prior to weekly class sessions, to discuss student progress. *
  • Diagnoses student and class educational needs.*
  • Plans instructional goals, objectives, and methods and cooperates with other members of the staff in achieving these aims.*
  • Develops, organizes and maintains a classroom environment conducive to   effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.*
  • Establishes and maintains standards of classroom behavior, as approved by the Program Administrator *
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.*
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.*
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board of Education policy.*
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes during and outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.*
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all students.*
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as  assigned. *

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                  

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday weeks of July 15th - August 8th

Teachers will work from 8:15 am to 1:45 pm (16 days)  for instructional time with 1.5 hours of prep time/supervision (5.5 hours per day).

One day MANDATORY teacher training on Wednesday, July 10th. (3 hours)

One day set-up (6 hours)

SALARY:                                          $30.00 per hour (97 hours total)
