TITLE: Summer School Speech-Language Pathologist/Interventionist

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Valid State License in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA)
  • Meets any special requirements set forth in the Michigan Special Education Code for Speech & Language
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Trained in Story Champs

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent/Director of Special Education         

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable   

JOB GOAL: Utilizing the MTSS process to help reduce, eliminate, or make adjustment to speech and language difficulties as well as provide support to lower elementary students with the development of speaking and listening skills needed to be a successful reader and writer.

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as a team member providing diagnostic and programming expertise and contributing to the identification of and program elements for students in need of speech and/or language support
  2. Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of oral communication and speech improvement as appropriate.
  3. Provides information, support and counseling to parents and families as appropriate.
  4. Implements and maintains valid monitoring and recording procedures of speech and language difficulties.
  5. Takes part in MTSS process.
  6. Provides Story Champs and/or other language-based intervention to individuals or small groups.
  7. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday weeks of July 15th - August 8th
  • Teachers will work from 8:15 am to 1:45 pm (16 days) for instructional time with 1.5 hours of prep time/supervision (5.5 hours per day).
  • One day MANDATORY teacher training on Wednesday, July 10th. (3 hours)
  • One day set-up (6 hours)

SALARY:                                          $30.00 per hour (97 hours total)
