TITLE:                       District Network Manager

Fraser Public Schools is a unique public school district in Southeast Michigan and we are seeking a talented Network Engineer to “own” the infrastructure that supports 6000+ devices and includes 125 switches, fiber ring, 20 gigabit Internet feed, Office365/Outlook and other outstanding technologies. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree desired, relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • In-depth experience with LAN/WAN infrastructure (Extreme Networks/Aruba products), firewalls, Microsoft Office365/Outlook hosted Exchange, Windows Server, Active Directory, SAN (Equallogic), Microsoft Hyper-V/VMWare virtualization, network switches.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, anti-malware, anti-penetration techniques is needed
  • Familiarity with IP-based security cameras, preferably Exacqvision software
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM, iOS devices/apps, programming, ADFS/SAML is desired
  • Experience providing 1st level support, preferably in an educational setting
  • Ability to work effectively with staff of varying skill levels
  • Effective communication, problem solving, multi-tasking, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to support staff in the use of educational technologies
  • Self-directed, self-motivated and ability to work with interruptions
  • High level of personal integrity and sensitivity to confidential information
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and service ceiling mounted devices
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TOChief Technology Officer

JOB GOAL: Manage the District’s network, security and email infrastructures, provides first level support to staff and students for District systems. This position works closely with other members of the District and Building Technology Team members.

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. “Own”, manage, protect, and maintain responsibility for the LAN/WAN network infrastructure, Office365 email, IP-based security cameras, and Windows/Linux servers for a variety of key systems, including backups, redundancy, disaster recovery, reliability, documentation and recommendations
  2. Automate the operation and reporting of key systems
  3. Identify, research and resolve technology-related problems
  4. Become familiar with and provide Tier 2 support and expertise for various District technology products including iPads, Apple TVs, Promethean flat panels, Shoretel IP phone system and other
  5. Keep up to date on current technology tools in K-12 education
  6. Provide and maintain network security, including ADFS/SAML single sign-on, two-factor authentication, and security audits
  7. Assist in the daily activities of the District Technology Office, including but not limited to, attending weekly planning meetings, completing assigned tasks, and overseeing project completion
  8. Assist in ensuring that Staff the District adequately purchases licenses and maintenance agreements
  9. Helps to develop and implement equipment and software security policies and procedures.
  10. Develops and implements network security, and disaster recovery policies and procedures to protect the integrity of the data stored on the network.
  11. Attends regional and statewide meetings to stay abreast of network-related topics.
  12. Other duties as assigned by Chief Technology Officer

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Twelve (12) Month position. Start date negotiable; candidate can start on or before July 1, 2019.

EVALUATION: Evaluation of this job will be performed annually by the Chief Technology Officer.
