Job Description

Position Opportunity:

Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrator, the Assistive Technology/Audiology Assistant, in compliance with established policies, procedures and practices, performs a variety of tasks in support of the Assistive Technology Consultant and Audiologists serving students within the Ingham ISD service area.   • High school diploma or equivalent.   Associates degree or course work in audiology, communication disorders or a healthcare related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of recent and relevant related experience working with students or working in a medical office setting. Experience working with students with disabilities and/or assistive technology.
  • Certification as an Audiologist Assistant preferred (must be willing to obtain within 12 months of start date).
  • Ability to read and comprehend multi-step instructions and written correspondence. 
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to provide courteous and accurate information to all levels of staff, students, parents, constituent school districts, community and state agencies, vendors and others.  The incumbent is required to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner.
  • Written and computer skills necessary for the creation and compilation of various documents, communications and reports.  The incumbent is required to effectively utilize a variety of software applications which may include but is not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphic design and database software applications.
  •  Mathematical skills necessary to prepare various financial related documents that may include but are not limited to check requests, requisitions, purchasing card reconciliations and other cost calculations.  In addition, if required, mathematical skills necessary to assist in budget preparation and to monitor and maintain assigned account.
  • Ability to utilize discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information and documents.
  • Ability to work with students who have disabilities.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities. 
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time working on a computer and to properly operate required office equipment.  The incumbent is also required to assist with transporting equipment to local schools or homes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.


Working Conditions:

  • Work is in a normal environment where there is minimal or no physical discomfort.
  • Driving to local school districts or homes.
