Position Details: 

Position: Literacy Coach Location: Potterville Elementary

Salary range: Salary commensurate with the credentials and experience of the candidate, per the current contract with an employee association

Reports To: Elementary Building Principal

Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree with additional credentials in Reading/Literacy ● Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate ● Three to five years of highly successful teaching experience at the elementary level ● Experience in presenting evidence-based instructional strategies or programs ● Demonstration of strong organizational and interpersonal skills Description and Responsibilities: The literacy coach will support elementary staff in the implementation of tier one core literacy instruction and tier two intervention in the area of literacy. The coach will work directly with elementary teachers providing classroom-based demonstrations, lab classroom opportunities, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitating teacher inquiry related professional development connected to differentiated instruction. The coach will also oversee the instruction and direction of the elementary interventionist. ● Meet with teacher teams to collect and analyze data and develop action plans in response to identified student needs ● Provide individualized, classroom-based support to build teacher efficacy in planning, sequencing and scaffolding literacy instruction ● Engage in observation (literacy behaviors of students, literacy instruction) in order to provide support and/or feedback ● Plan and conduct trainings or professional development opportunities through presentations and common planning times ● Oversee elementary interventionist to coordinate strategies and progress monitor students ● Assist with benchmark assessments and administering diagnostics to further identify and address student needs ● Work with principal to design and facilitate instructional practices in literacy ● Collaborate and communicate with District MTSS Coordinator ● Continue to develop knowledge.skills in the area of literacy and coaching ● Perform other duties as assigned by building principal
