Position Details: 





  • Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate
  • Must meet state requirements in area of certification - Social Studies (CX) and/or History (RX)
  • Must meet certification & qualifications for state and national criteria for highly qualified teachers



  1. Must follow district and state curricula and assessment requirements.
  2. Knowledge of current curriculum trends in Social Studies and ability to write and develop new curricular direction in subject area.
  3. Ability to work effectively as a team member with grade level/department/interdisciplinary teams, etc.
  4. Knowledge of and ability to regularly integrate the writing process and expository writing to enhance   teaching and learning.
  5. Knowledge of and commitment to use technology as an instructional tool to enhance teaching and learning.
  6. Knowledge of and ability to implement on a regular basis cooperative learning strategies and flexible grouping strategies.
  7. Desire to develop an interdisciplinary approach to delivering instructional outcomes.
  8. Ability to use assessment to differentiate instruction.
  9. Knowledge of and ability to implement School-to-Career school based and linking activities appropriate to grade level/subject.
  10. Follow and implement all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines and building regulations.
  11. Attendance is an essential job function for this position.
  12. Willing to perform other duties as necessary and/or directed by the principal.
