Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a social work program
  • Ability to assist students and their families to gain access to formal and informal community resources.
  • Ability to work with a small group of students or in a one on one setting.

Preferences:

  • Master’s Degree in a social work program
  • Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Michigan approval as a school social worker or eligible for approval and registered with Board of Social Work, Michigan Department of Community Health 
  • Previous experience in the area of school social work or experience in graduate field placement in school settings preferred.
  • Ability to implement research-based intervention and services to students with trauma, low will, maladaptive behavior, anxiety and emotional behavior/social challenges in order to support progress and participation in the educational setting.
  • Ability to plan school and /or system-wide programs to promote social emotional learning as a means of creating a safe, healthy, caring school climate that fosters academic success

Job Description:

Provide individual and small group counseling/support that focuses on students’ social, emotional and behavioral needs which impact learning and school success. Supporting district administrators with implementation and development of MTSS. Supporting students and families with success in school.

Salary/Benefits:     $35,964-$40,589 commensurate with experience

Days/Hours:                195 Days

Start Date:                    August 2019
