Purpose of Position:                     

Under the general direction of the Management Team and in collaboration with the Great Start Collaboratives, Great Start Parent Coalitions, Regional Resource Centers, and community stakeholders, the Early Childhood Support Network Project Administrator will supervise and coordinate comprehensive early childhood services with constituents to support development, implementation and sustainability of the regional Early Childhood Support Network.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with coursework or experience in educational administration, early childhood education, or human services
  • Three to five years of successful experience within early childhood systems which may include program supervision and/or administration of programs and services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill applications with research and evidence-based practices in early childhood to support early childhood providers, young children and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill applications with statutes, regulations, and guidelines governing early childhood and ability to develop appropriate policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated skills in supervisory functions such as evaluation, team building, continuous improvement, conflict management and problem solving
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, provide leadership to staff and an ability to work collaboratively with families, agencies and constituent staff/administrators
  • Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks/projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather information, analyze data, problem solve and implement decisions in both a leadership capacity and within varied team compositions
  • Proficient with the use of technology including Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and other software applications
  • Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents, and the community
  • Possess valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift/carry instructional material

Duties and Responsibilities:

In alignment with the governance structure, mission, vision and organizational principles of the Early Childhood Support Network (ECSN), the director shall:

  • Set effective and efficient program and service goals which align with the mission, vision, and goals of the Region.
  • Build and support teams that participate in the identification, implementation and assessment of regional goals.
  • Anticipate and adapt to changes to better serve constituents
  • Plan and implement professional development for self, staff, and constituents to ensure continuous learning and improvement
  • Maintain an environment in which partners work with trust, integrity and shared responsibility to ensure that the Region maintains a dynamic environment that people seek to join
  • Oversee partners/grantees, defining tasks to be accomplished, setting expectations for standards of performance and following regional and state processes to ensure that the work of the Region is accomplished
  • Demonstrate competence in the areas of leadership, interpersonal relationships, adult learning styles, individual attributes, and continuous quality improvement
  • Provide direct assistance and supervision to assigned staff, partners, and grantees within the Northern Early Childhood Support Network
  • Coordinate and facilitate regional partnerships within and across regions for the ECSN and participate in meetings with the Office of Great Start/Michigan Department of Education, as required by the grant.
  • Assist in development and administration of ECSN grant budget along with accompanying documentation and reporting systems
  • Facilitate and assist with convening and facilitating stakeholder meetings regarding ECSN initiatives at the regional level
  • Facilitate collaboration among early childhood constituents within the region to implement the ECSN goals and objectives, create public awareness, mobilize community resources, enhance program/service delivery and sustain initiatives
  • Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for the ECSN T&TA staff in collaboration with ECSN goals and objectives
  • Assist in coordination and development of early childhood grants and consortiums in partnership with constituents, the Michigan Department of Education/Office of Great Start, the GSQ Grantee, and the Great Start Collaboratives/Great Start Parent Coalitions and Resource Centers
  • Oversee consultation and technical assistance supports to Great Start Collaboratives/Great Start Parent Coalitions and Resource Centers
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Management Team and Steering Committee
  • Remain free of substance abuse and/or illegal drug use at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
